The National Microscale Chemistry Center (NMC2) was established in January 1993 to promote the use of microscale chemistry as a means of eliminating toxic waste at the source.

Its major initial focus is the offering of workshops, seminars and publications on the operation and advantages of conversion of laboratories to the microscale level.

NMC2 is permanently housed at Merrimack College, an institution of the liberal arts, sciences and engineering, business located in North Andover, Mass. The Chemistry department at Merrimack is approved by the American Chemical Society (A.C.S.) and grants the B.S. degree.
